One step closer

Today, we took one step closer to being baby-ready when we got a new and very family-friendly car - a GMC Acadia! Being a car person, I've had my eye on this car for months and was happy to love driving it too when we finally got to test drive it! As I drove it home from the dealership earlier, I couldn't help but turn around a few times to look where a car seat would be in just a few months! Our 1st "precious cargo" will be Quigley when we drive to the Vineyard this weekend but I'm so excited to feel a bit closer to being prepped for Baby GG's arrival!

Tweet, tweet

We discovered last week that in the bush right next to our deck a momma bird had made a nest and laid a few eggs! It was neat to watch her come and go, taking care of her little ones and if you got to close she was sure to swoop around and watch your every move. Brian even snuck his hand in there to touch one of the little ones (although I heard that means the mom wont come back if she smells a human touch -- she did!) before they were old enough to fly away. When I checked tonight when we got home, I have to admit I was a little bummed to find an empty nest! We certainly have a long time before we'll have an "empty nest" but I hope it doesn't fly by as fast as the baby birdies grew out of their nest :)

And.... we're done!!!!

Really done :) No more renovations, at least not for a few years! Our kitchen is complete and we couldn't be happier with it! It was a smooth process, and with the exception of having to wait 2 weeks for the countertops to be complete, it was quick too! We'll have bar stools tomorrow (thanks Mom and Dad!) and please excuse the light fixture hanging from the wall over the sink. Are you surprised I was anxious to post an "after" shot and couldn't wait for those two things to be done? :-) Now that this is done (we can finally enjoy it!), we can move foward with the nursery!!!

Celebrating One Awesome Year!!

It really feels like yesterday that we were consumed in all the wedding plans in the final months before the big day, so it's pretty hard to believe it's been one year since we said "I Do!" To celebrate, we skipped town for a long weekend and had a blast hanging out, going out to eat and sleeping in! It was a great time to get away and just enjoy each other. We got home this afternoon to a really nice surprise from my family to top off a great weekend. There were flowers, food, decorations, sparkling cider and our wedding cake to replicate our wedding dinner! It's hard to imagine a year better than this one but with Baby GG coming before the holidays we know it'll just keep getting better and better and we can't wait!

Here are a few of my favorite pictures from 6.12.10 and a few from our celebratory dinner tonight ~

Woah Nelly, check out that belly!

It's hard to believe we're already at the half-way point of our pregnancy! Many of you may know we went back and forth many times discussing whether to find out the sex of the baby or keep it a surprise. Ultimately, we agreed just days before "the" appointment that we wanted to know. My mom joined us at the appointment which was really neat as she was overwhelmed and amazed at today's technology and being able to "meet" her grandbaby. At the end of a fun and exciting 1 hour + ultrasound appointment they told finally shared.... "It's a Girl" and the next few minutes were a blur. Brian grabbed my arm and I think said something like "oh.... my.....God" I burst into tears feeling very connected at that moment with our little girl and my mom... she could hardly speak. The first thing I muttered when I could catch my breath was - Mom, you were right. Aren't mom's always right, anyway? :) Well, to our credit Brian and I had guessed girl too! It was a very special moment and a very exciting day! We're looking forward to the coming weeks as Baby GG (Girl Gerges as we're calling her) grows even more and starts to kick so her Daddy can feel her!
