Kitchen Update

When we decided to do our kitchen renovation our hope was to have a fully functioning kitchen by Memorial Day weekend. The shipment came with everything on May 15 and the after that, demo took about 4 days, wall repair took 3 days, the actual install of cabinets took 2 days and the electrical was completed on Saturday! So, Memorial Day is here and I'd say we did pretty well! We're missing the countertop and sink but with a working microwave and stovetop, we're basically up and running and we LOVE it! It'll be nice to have it completed - hopefully within 2 weeks (happy anniversary to us :) - and I'll post an offical after picture then as well. Happy Memorial Day everyone!!

Demolition!

We had just a few days to tear everything out, repair the walls and then paint and prime and with a little help, we did it! Well, I wasn't too much help... Brian was a demo champ and after a few long days of work came home to 3 or 4 hours of hard demo work just to get it done! It helps when you are on a deadline because you do whatever it takes to finish on time and we finished with a little time to spare. Here are a few pictures of the last week:

Pregnancy and Me.....

I always knew I wanted to be a mom but every day of this experience thus far has made me more and more excited! From the moment I took the test and shared the news with a half-asleep Brian, to now, the experience has been an incredible one and I find myself looking forward to what the next day will be like.

One of the most special things about all of this for me is how excited Brian is. They say women glow during pregnancy but I think my husband is! Ill never forget one of the first things my mother-in-law said when we told her - "I always knew you were going to have kids, you always talked about it when you were young" It's the most amazing experience in the world and I am so blessed to be going through it with such a wonderful man!

I got this card from a friend and I'm keeping it on our mantle because it makes me smile every time I look at it. Some days I feel perfect and other days not so much but this reminds me to embrace and enjoy every moment of this great journey - thanks Meghan!

Just days away from demo...

While Brian was away on a golfing weekend we inched closer and closer to being ready for demo and our new kitchen! Our "new kitchen" was delivered on Saturday in 177 boxes weighing in total over 2,000 lbs and is in a pile in our garage, ha! My parents, during a visit, were feeling handy and decided to tackle the tear down of the big, obtrusive, glass, storage thing-y - really I don't even know what you call it! As they were working on it, they could tell they were taking it apart just the same way someone put the homemade piece together years ago. A few hours and a few broken glasses later, it's gone... and it looks AMAZING! Brian and my mom were right all along, we should have taken it out when we moved in! Thanks Mom and Dad for jump starting the demo and saving us from having to take that piece apart!! We are ready for the real demo and I'm even more excited for the new kitchen and how it's going to fill the space! Demo this week, new kitchen next week... stay tuned :)

Growing steadily

When we first found out we were going to have a baby, October 26th seemed so far away! Now, time seem to be going by quickly and we're excited to be at week 16. Here are a couple pictures of the growing belly!

Happy Mother's Day!!

Today is a day to celebrate all the incredible mother's in your life, your own, your mother-in-law, your sisters, friends and the expecting mom's to be! Enjoy this beautiful day with your families and make sure to tell your Mom just how much she means to you!

A little something from my mother-in-law and grandma-to-be :)

Meeting Anthony Palleschi

Last weekend we visited Jill and Craig in New Jersey and met little Anthony! There is something so special about watching dear friends embrace parenthood, and so naturally. It was a wonderful visit, and we could have stayed for hours longer, especially since Anthony had fallen asleep on Brian as it came time to leave. Congratulations Jill and Craig - we couldn't be happier for you and we are so glad we were able to visit and meet Anthony! He is one adorable little guy and we can't wait to see him again soon! Happy 1st Mother's Day Jill!

No better time than now!

When our dishwasher went in October we agreed the next big house project had to be the kitchen. You see in order to replace the dishwasher we had to rip out the new hardwood floors we'd just put down, or take off the countertop! 8 months later, the project took shape a little quicker than we thought but we are excited that hopefully within a month, we'll have a brand new kitchen!

Before the real work can begin we had to have our "extra" door closed up. Stay tuned for demo pictures next, we're tackling it ourselves so those should be good :)
