** Update **

After lots of thought and mulling over all the scenarios, we've decided to take the doctors original suggestion and go in for an induction before 41 weeks. Sunday was no longer available, so we'll be checking into the hospital on Monday night! They'll start the pitocin on Tuesday morning and hopefully the baby will be born that day - 11/1/11 :) What a birthdate!

We'll be certain to update the blog as often as we can! Wish us luck for a smooth delivery and a healthy baby girl next week!

Happy due date to us :)

It is here - Baby GG's due date is today and yet... no baby! Brian and I were so excited to have a Dr. appointment today to get everything checked out and an idea of her size and it was a great appointment. The baby is still doing well, my fluid level and blood pressure are good, and all looks good. Then the Dr. told us there was good news, and bad news.... I asked for the bad news first. The "bad" news - the baby is over the 97th percentile in size - estimated to be around 9 lbs and 9 oz now! The good news is that her head is only in the 50th percentile so that could mean that a natural birth is still an option!

I am not dilated and the baby is still up pretty high but because of her size our doctor doesn't want us to go past 41 weeks. We discussed going in to be induced on Sunday - that was the Docs original suggestion - but I expressed my concerns about an induction and we decided to wait until next Wednesday. So, we are scheduled to go in for an iduction next Wednesday, November 2nd! But in the meantime, we'll say our prayers that Baby GG does what she can to make her appearance naturally before then!!

A little side-note that I found very ironic and neat - while chatting about the size of our baby today, Brian asked about her height as well. Our doctor's response was that she was built like a linebacker, and he pointed at Brian and goes - like you. Well, I had to chuckle... 30 years ago when my parents were anxiously awaiting the birth of their first born and I was on my way out, their Doctor said "we've got a linebacker on our hands!" As I was fully out, he goes "oh, it's a girl!!" Well.... it looks like our little girl is taking after her mom :)

We'll be certain to announce the news when she finally arrives and keep our fingers crossed, all goes smoothly and she is perfect and healthy! Thanks for all of your love and support over the last 10 months!

to work or not to work next week....

So here we are.... week 39, only 1 week until Baby GG's due date! I guess we are due for an update, but unfortunately, we do not have much to report. The good news is that GG is healthy and (I'm not sure what to make of this - but)  the doctor told us today she was a very "solid" baby. At next week's appointment they'll actually measure her so we should get an idea of her size.

We had an internal exam again this week and although I'd prepared myself for this, he confirmed that there is absolutely nothing going on. I'm not dilated at all and my cervix hasn't changed at all yet either. Based on that, he stated we're most likely in this for the long haul and that was that. I'd thought he'd told us a while back that he doesn't let patients go past 41 weeks (and I think I can hang in there for 2 more weeks) but he said today that he would let me go to 42 before he'd induce me. My thought right then was - God help me if I'm actually pregnant for 3 more weeks! It's honestly hard to imagine.

I was planning on making this Friday my last day at work. I figured the baby would come sometime in the next 10 - 14 days and it would be nice to have some time to get in some last minute R&R, hang with Sir Quigley, make sure the house is ready and of course treat myself to a mani/pedi and maybe even a hair cut :) But now, knowing I could have 3 more weeks left to go, I'm worried I may go stir crazy at home! However, I've decided to stick with my original plan. I have the vacation time that I don't want to go to waste.... So, I'll go on lots of walks, and get in some last minute R&R while I can!

We visit the Doc again next Wednesday afternoon - I'll be certain to update everyone again after that :) Until then, I'll probably be testing out all the old wives tales just for the fun of it... starting with spicy food tonight!

The nursery is complete :) I plan to buy shelves when I find some that I like to go over the chair and of course it'll really be complete when the baby gets here. We love the room and are so happy with how it all came together. To think I was afraid of pink on the walls.... now I can't imagine it any other way! 17 days until GG's due date, but who's counting?! ;-)

Getting pretty close!

Officially just 3 weeks until the baby's due date! For those of you wondering, nope... no name yet :) Its looking like it really will be a decision when she arrives! We are going to the Dr. tomorrow for a check up and we're looking forward to an update, fingers crossed there might be a little bit of progress. It's really incredible how you wake up one day and feel different, that happened to me yesterday. I'm glad to have made it this far and really had no complaints but looking ahead, I'm feeling very "ready" for what's to come!

Celebrating Baby GG!

Last weekend I was blessed with a beautiful day with friends and family as we officially celebrated the arrival of Baby GG! The baby shower was held at a family friends house and it was the perfect day! After the shower, with a house full of baby stuff, it all sort of started to sink in! Now, prepared with all that we could possibly need and everything put together, we are ready and that feels great! I mean... as ready as we'll ever be, right? :) Here are a few pictures from the day!
