In the Christmas Spirit

This year, we've tried to do a lot of different things with the girls to get them excited for Christmas. It just so happens that we've had Christmas related activities each weekend, so we've been busy being merry :)  I always enjoy this season, but this year has been especially fun with two little princesses to watch enjoy the Christmas spirit. We weren't able to get our Christmas tree the weekend after Thanksgiving like we normally do, so instead we wasted no time jumping into Christmas activities in other ways.

I'd heard a little about the Frozen Palace that was set up in a Mall in West Hartford, but to be honest, I sort of dismissed it. Then my sister-in-law texted me one day, from the mall, and said it was pretty impressive. Since we didn't have anything going on, I convinced Brian to go on a little adventure up to the mall. He was a little reluctant, and I admit, I was completely naive. I figured we'd have to wait in line a little, but if we got there right when it opened, how bad could it be. Oh. Mmm Gee. The mall opened at 10am, and we were there at 10:20am. It was still November, so I figured the mall wouldn't be that crowded. I mean, do that many people really start their shopping that early? Coming from the queen procrastinator, its hard to image people are organized that early on! Anyway, we came around the corner to absolute chaos. Brian was silent, with an I-told-you-so-face the whole time. We waited in this line for 3 hours, yes 3 HOURS and 15 minutes, before we could enter the Frozen Palace. A little perk was that at the end of the Frozen set up, was Santa. A very sweet and genuine Santa. Of course you had to buy a few pictures, but in the 10 seconds the girls were on his lap, they managed to snap a decent photo. We left, and I could barely think straight. Its a miracle we avoided complete meltdowns, considering we were standing for so long, had limited water, and missed our normal lunch hour. Anyway, Madelyn LOVED it, and was giddy and smiling the entire time. So, for the stress of it all for Brian and , it was totally worth it.  We got in the car and the girls both passed out immediately.

The next weekend, we got our Christmas tree on Saturday, decorated the house inside and out, and then went to NYC on Sunday for our annual Christmas trip to see the tree, shop and have dinner. Unfortunately, the whole tree sighting and getting to the restaurant situation was beyond hectic, so I didn't have my camera out to take any pictures. Oh well, we had a blast nonetheless :) Hanging and watching TV with just the tree lit up, is one of my favorite things ever. This year, we put our tree in a different spot, and picked our best tree yet so I'm completely obsessed with just sitting and enjoying the tree. Its pretty neat to admire how the tree is filling with ornaments from the last 5 years. Our very first Christmas tree had many generic ornaments on it. Over the years, I've thrown many of them out because we've run out of room, and we're now filling the tree with special one-of-a-kind ornaments signifying our little family. Depending on how our tree is keeping up, maybe we'll keep it up through January :)

This past weekend, we went up town to see Santa arrive to the park, by helicopter. A fun event for the little ones, and our first time experiencing it. After he lands in the ballpark, he goes around the fence to say hi to all the little ones and give out candy canes. Madelyn couldn't believe it, she was so confused as to where his sled was, and watched in awe as he got out and made his rounds. There really is nothing to compare to the magic of Christmas in a childs eyes. I feel like when she was little, I was always saying - this is the best age, no this is the best. We're getting to go through many of the amazing little milestones with Anna, and that fun age, but Madelyn is at such a great stage and this Christmas season has already been incredible! I am looking forward to getting through this week of work, and the girls being slightly under the weather right now. I'm hoping we can all stay healthy and have a wonderful week next week! Enjoy this magical time with your loves, and since I probably wont write again before next week - Merry Christmas!

Stella & Dot!

I want to introduce you to my friends, Stella and Dot :) I knew of Stella & Dot but until my friend Krissy hosted a show, I'd never browsed their line. Now, I'm hooked. My "wish list" on their site is like 2 pages long. I love their chunky necklaces and fun colorful earrings. One of my absolute favorites, is this engraved necklace that Brian got me for my birthday. I've only taken it off a few times, and it still looks perfect!

I also have these items, which I wear often, and each time I get lots of compliments:

In addition to the super cute jewelry, they have adorable scarves and bags too! I am hosting my first party next week, and I am really looking forward to it. If you want to shop online through my "shop" you can do so with this link - Stella & Dot Trunk Show. thankful

It is the most wonderful time of year. No matter how you celebrate Thanksgiving, it's such a wonderful holiday, and it marks the start of the holiday season. I've been blasting Christmas music in our house and my car, to get Madelyn in the spirit and I can't wait to decorate with lots of green and red. But not yet, first, its Thanksgiving.

As we get ready to celebrate Thanksgiving, I am feeling a bit overwhelmed. In a good way. I am so grateful, so thankful, feeling so blessed, my heart is so full. I am finally feeling like myself again, finally. With issues aside, I can focus on this crazy beautiful life, that I almost feel like I was missing out on for the last 6+ months. I had been so consumed with worry about my health, that I was just out of it. I mean, life is busy and chaotic on its own, so add in worry and stress from health issues and I feel like I was a bit absent. But, just in the last few weeks, aside from hurting my ankle and throwing my back (no joke!), I feel good - I'm back :)
Back to being present, living in the now and having fun! No better time to be feeling good than now, the best time of the year!

Lately, I feel like my heart is so full, it might explode. The last few weeks have been sort of quiet in our house, and I have literally been drunk on the special family time we've had. Lazy nights and quiet weekends with lots of laughs, smiles and playing with our girls. What do they say about it not being healthy to be obsessed with your kids? Well, whatever... I am, no shame. Madelyn is at such a fun age. Her imagination is budding and the conversations we have are so awesome. Anna, plain and simple, is a joy. She smiles and giggles all day long, and is so easy-going. Just like that, its like she completed our family and made everything right.

I am thankful that these two sweet girls call me, Mom. I am thankful for my husband, for being the person he is, for how he supported me and our family through the last few months, and for being my best friend. I am thankful for my family, who is such a special part of our lives and such a support. I am thankful for our home, and the memories we're creating here. I am thankful for our friends and family near and far, who are our village and help keep us sane! Lastly, I am thankful that my mom hosts the best Thanksgiving every year, and I can't wait to celebrate with Anna this year :)

Wishing you all a healthy and happy Thanksgiving! Gobble gobble!

Fall Fun!

WARNING - Picture overload! The last few weeks have been so much fun and I'm glad I have lots of pictures capturing it all. We had a visit from Gramma and Grandpa, went to a new farm with friends to pick pumpkins and go on a hay ride, celebrated Halloween (twice) and then had Madelyn's birthday party. This past weekend we didn't have as much going on, and it was just as much fun, just hanging together and relaxing. Here are some pics of our fall fun!
