The Girl's Bedrooms

Today, we officially have 7 weeks to go until Baby #2's due date! Just so you know, we're not just calling her #2 for the sake of keeping her name a secret! Again, we will most likely wait until the very end to pick a name :) Anyway, since the baby's due date is now quickly approaching, we've started to kick our butts into gear. I looked back at old posts from when we were expecting Madelyn and by this point, her nursery was almost completely done. We're moving a little slower this time around.

Our two biggest projects, before really getting the nursery done this, were to transition Madelyn into a big girl bed (to free up the crib, and use the guest bed from the guest room since storage space is limited here!) and to get a closet installed in the nursery. Our house is listed as a 3 bedroom house, but our guest room/nursery doesn't have a closet. We thought not having a closet meant it doesn't count as a bedroom officially. Either way, we knew it would mean we'd have to add one!

So here is a little peak at the progress we've made over the last 2 weeks. Madelyns room now has a full size bed, and my old dresser and the changing table, crib and rocker have been moved out. Her room is a good size, but looks even bigger now with her big girl things in it! Brian spray painted our rod iron bed frame white, and we'll soon get M's bed off the floor and on that frame. This freezing weather slowed down the painting of the frame a little ;) Much to our surprise, Madelyn has LOVED the transition to a big girl bed. We bought her new bedding, gave her a new pillow and blanket and she has really taken to the change. For probably 2 weeks before we made the switch, I was nervous for the move. She is such a creature of habit and doesn't necessarily take to change all that well, so this would be a very big step. Maybe I just was nervous/sad/sentimental about the fact that my baby was moving out of her crib :) Thankfully, it went well - phew!

Now for the nursery.... or what will eventually be a nursery. Right now, it looks like this:

Our handyman is coming tomorrow to finish the closet. Then, we can prime and paint! And by we, I mean Brian.... and he can't wait. Painting is his favorite! We're going to do the room in a soft green, and bring in the green floral rug that we've used in our bedroom for the last few years. The room will have all the same colors as Madelyn's nursery, but reverse. M's nursery was pink with touches of green. This room will be a soft green with a few hints of pink throughout. It's a small room, so I hope it all comes together and is cozy. I'll share a picture of the 'after' once we're there... hopefully it's before the baby arrives ;)
